What’s the Real Difference Between Leadership and Management?

Interesting insight in Entrepreneur.com on this sensitive topic especially with the “new economic” landscape where Leadership is often brought forward as THE skill to display for any CEOs / Founders. Corporates were already spending 356 B$ worldwide in 2015 for employee training and education, keeping in mind that Leadership is often confused with Management excellence.

Colin Poweill gave a pretty good description of the challenge: Leadership is the art of accomplishing more than the science of management says is possible.”

The Harvard Business Review reviewed in depth back in 2016 the challenge to make sure that the investment in Leadership training delivers the expected results and ROI for the company as well as the managers.

At the end of the day, the basis of Leadership is to remember that ”being a Leader is to have followersn, in all circumstances”, a kind of “4×4 leadership” (vs a circumstantial leadership).
